Leila started studying violin at the age of 3 in Los Angeles. She continued her musical education at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. In May 1994 she was awarded an Avery Fisher Career Grant. Leila made her Carnegie Hall debut on September of 1994 with Sir Neville Marriner and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.

Josefowicz is married to conductor Kristjan Järvi and has one son. She has recently been recruited by Chanel to model and promote its Allure line of cologne throughout 2000 and early 2001!

Leila Josefowicz performs on the 1739 "Ebersolt" Guarnerius del Gesu violin.
