Canadian Music Competitions

The Canadian Music Competitions is a national, non-profit organization which has helding annual competitions at the local, provincial, and national levels for close to forty years. The CMC is run by volunteers with a national office in Montreal. There are 21 chapters from St. John's, Newfoundland to Vancouver, BC. Approximately 700 young people (ages 7 - 28) , nationwide, compete each year in Piano, Voice, Guitar, Strings, Winds and Chamber Music. The highest level is the biannual International Stepping Stone (ages 16 - 31). More than 80% of International Stepping Stone grand prize winners are now pursuing active solo careers internationally and 60% of the first prize winners have gone on to win prizes in International competitions.
