Kindermusik (meaning children's music) is an early childhood music and movement program developed in West Germany in the 1960's and was introduced in the USA in 1974.

Kindermusik is taught by nearly 5,000 licensed educators around the world.

Features

• small classes - 8 to 12 children

• curriculum and materials developed after consultation with experts in speech and langauge, reading, child psychology, movement, dance, neurology, musicians, early childhood and educators

• teacher training (including business training and classroom management). Teachers must obtain a licence to teach and sell Kindermusik programs and products.

Levels

• Kindermusik Village^TM - newborn to 1 1/2 years. Singing, moving, listening, interacting, socially, playing simple instruments.
• Kindermusik Beginnings^® - 1 1/2 to 3 years. Instrument exploration, creative movement, listening, music and movement story time.
• Growing with Kindermusik^® - 3 - 5 years. Development of fine motor skills, concepts of rhythm, pitch and timbre. Singing, instruments, creative movement.
• Kindermusik for the Young Child^® - 4 1/2 to 7 years. Development of working knowledge of rhythm, notes and musical vocabulary. Singing, dulcimer and recorder.
• Kindermusik Music Box^® - designed to be taught in the preschool / day care environment
• Kindermusik Adventures^® - summer camp
