Music for Young ChildrenTM Method

Created in 1980 by Frances Balodis, a Registered Music Teacher who is also an Early Childhood and Remedial Specialist, Music for Young Children is a balanced music program for children aged 3 - 11 that combines instruction in keyboard, singing, solfege, rhythm, ear training, sight reading, theory, history and composing. MYC students are taught as a parent-child team in small groups. Students completing the most advanced level are prepared to move into intermediate piano studies.

MYC provides teacher training, a Music Composition Festival annually and Conferences.

Over 21,000 students annually in three countries, 680 trained teachers.

Levels

Publications & Materials

The Music for Young Children program materials are specially designed and produced for the child's age and development. The text is illustrated by MYC's artist, Sue Ward. Each text provides: singing, warm-ups, keyboard, listening, rhythm and keyboard ensembles and home assignment sections (a typical text has over 300 pages divided into seven sections). In addition to the very comprehensive student manual, the student's registration fee includes a carrying bag, magnetic board and castanet.

The MYC Composer PAK includes: Young Composer's Notebook 1, Young Composer's Notebook 2, Young Composer's Notebook 3, and MYC's Magnetic Music Board with magnets.
