1999 National Education Summit

IBM hosted the third National Education Summit on September 30 and October 1 which brought together over 100 participants from business, government and the educational community. The focus was on the implementation of higher educational standards across the USA. One proposal included a "pay for performance" incentive program to be tested in 10 states. All major proceedings, speech and discussion transcripts, webcasts of key presentations, speeches and press confernces are available at the Summit99 web site.


Free Newsletter: Tips for Helping Troubled Teens

A new website from Aspen Youth Services features a free monthly newsletter for parents with tips for how to help a troubled adolescent, including warning signs to watch out for in the life of a teenager, diagnosing ADHD, and ideas for helping to alter distructive behaviour. AYS is based in Cerritos, California and operates 35 programs in eight states. The site also provides detailed information about education, treatment and rehabilitation services parents can access to help their children.
