50 - 60 composers will be commissioned to write pedagogical music for young musicians as a special millennium project funded by Canada Council, the B.C. Millennium Fund and Ontario 2000. The project organized by the Canadian Music Centre will involve composers from across Canada.
Last month Parent Help Line, a national, bilingual telephone and Internet service, was launched by Kids Help Phone in collaboration with Invest in Kids Foundation offering confidential support, information and referrals to parents of children from birth to 19 years. Each counsellor has access to a national database of 30,000 social service listings reflecting over 2,300 cities and towns across Canada. A wide range of information is also available through their message library developed by a team of Canadian experts covering psychology, psychiatry, social work, nutrition, speech pathology, parent effectiveness training and multicultural intervention.
