Merlin Thompson
Profile
Merlin B. Thompson is one of Canada's leading authorities on the Suzuki Piano Method. Mr. Thompson graduated Bachelor of Music (piano performance) from the University of Regina and Maitre es Arts (musicology) from the University of Montreal. In 1986 he graduated from the Suzuki Teacher Training Program at the Matsumoto Talent Education Institute under the Suzuki Method's founder Dr. Shinichi Suzuki and Suzuki Piano's co-founder Dr. Haruko Kataoka. Since 1988, he has been Artistic Director of the Suzuki Piano Program at the Mount Royal College Conservatory in Calgary, Alberta. Mr. Thompson is a recognized Suzuki Piano Teacher Trainer with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the International Suzuki Association. He has conducted Suzuki Piano Pedagogy Workshops in Japan, throughout Australia, the United States and across Canada.
