Dr. Jamie Syer
is well-known as a pianist, teacher, and adjudicator. He is a member of the music faculty at the University of Regina, and performs widely as a soloist and chamber musician.
Laurie Syer
was a student of Dr. Lise Elson, and teaches a large class of violinists in Bergen. Together with Jamie, she has performed in Scotland, Ireland, Hungary and France, as well as closer to home.
Dr. Janet Hammock
recently retired from Mt. Allison University after 31 years of teaching. She continues as an energetic pianist and teacher, with interests in improvisation and deep listening.
Dr. Terence Dawson
is a busy piano soloist and chamber musician, whose performances are heard regularly on CBC Radio. He is Keyboard Division Coordinator at the UBC School of Music.
Ina Dykstra
is an active teacher, accompanist, adjudicator, and clinician, who leads workshops for teachers' groups and students throughout Alberta She has a special interest in piano ensemble music.
Paul Chou
is Director of Orchestral Programs at Pennsylvania's Lehigh University. He enjoys a distinguished international career as a violin soloist, conductor, and pedagogue.
Tobi Jurchuk
brings an energetic and creative approach to music education. and is a founding faculty member at Strings & Keys. She currently teaches violin in both Calgary and Kimberley.
Theresa Plotnick
is violist in the 'Allegra' string quartet, and a respected freelance performer. She teaches violin and viola in Calgary, and leads Suzuki-based workshops throughout Canada and the U.S.
Kerri McGonigle has studied and performed in Canada and in France, and in 2000 joined the cello faculty of Alberta College Conservatory. She has taught and performed at Strings & Keys since 1997.
Tom Mirhady
has played cello with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra since 1979. He is a teacher, examiner, and musician who loves to search out and perform rare gems of the cello repertoire.
